Can anyone fly at PARCS?Yes, as long as they have achieved their Bronze Wings, have been cleared for solo flying by a club representative or are accompanied by a qualified instructor.
Training If you are a beginner, our MAAA qualified instructors will
provide free training to Bronze Wings standard and beyond. You will be guided through the basics, receive important information and advice about radio control flying.
To ensure that training is as stress free as possible, "Buddy Boxes" are used to lessens the fear of crashing and enables faster learning. Pay us a visit during the weekends and get started in this hobby with your personal Instructor. |
Radio Control Plane
The design of your first RC plane is very important when learning to fly. You need a plane that is stable and has a forgiving flight characteristics. A high wing 'trainer' type configuration is best, such as the Australian designed Boomerang which is manufactured by Seagull Models. It is robust, easy to fly, with self-righting characteristics, economical and will provide you with hours of fun. As your skill skill level increases, you can move on to more advance models. There's no doubt that electric is more popular for beginners; it's cleaner and quieter. However, talk to the instructors and club members and find out what suits you. PARCS has electricity outlets and members can charge their batteries with a 240V plugin. Regardless of what your preference is, the most important thing to do is enjoy the flying and the comradeship of the club members. |

Very often a beginner sees a World War II fighter plane and it spark his interest. He buys one of those P-51 Mustangs and loses interest quickly when he is unable to fly it properly. 
As you start focusing on the airplanes that are most interesting to you, it becomes important to make sure that the radio you have will offer the channels and programming features to support the requirements of the airplanes. You may find that as your skill level is increasing, you will be looking at radios having the features to support your new skills. If this hobby is becoming a major interest in your life, a radio with advanced features will not limit your abilities with any of the models you choose.
